for sale my berlingo van mk1. 1.8 XUD engine (bulletproof) only selling as i have brought a car for my daughter to learn and own once she passes her test. so will be a sad day once it sells. read all of the description for faults with van. no swops and seriously no fucking messers. cash on pick up but paypal ok. van is 26 years old this year. right lets start.. family owner since 3 years old. was rental van prior. owned by family friend we called uncle for 15 years? then my actual uncle had it and my dad bought it. then me. van needs welding for first time ever -last pics show the bad bits. battle scars all round. my dads 1/2 blind. ive been all over country in this. as with all old skool french it is basic. heavy clutch, no power steering, no electronics. really clean inside. any mechanical work always done and NOT A RUST BUCKET UNDERNEATH. but needs welding. mot expires 30/10/2024. welding needed to both front inner wing panels under headlamps (not structual) easy to access too. o/s/r arch bubbling (nothing inside) o/s/r jacking point to sill inner. again easy to access. o/s/f outer floor to chassis(void section?)not floor.. all in pics. last 2 mots listed it but I’ve driven through 2 salty winters so … cam belt is due at mot time. last done full kit at 171,000 miles(2019) i will supply timing tools with van, you just need belt and tensioner, i daily this van so have checked belt at top cover- no cracks and tension is good but needs doing asap. ok. so key /chip /immobilizer plays up sometimes. been like this 10 years, never left me stranded. the immobilizer wont read the key every 1-3 times a month(so wont let fuel pump inject) some times it happens once a week then goes for month without a problem, you just waggle the key over exciter ring and it starts and runs for weeks before it acts up. you can bypass it by running 9-12 volts to pump through a relay , but never bothered. pump never been touched so still has security shield on it. glow plugs will be needed towards winter time. changed them 2 years ago, but 1 or 2 failed again. hot weather all good. if you know these old XUD engines, they need/love glow plugs. good points- decent flat white paintwork, interior really clean, rear clean with original rubber floor mat. its a cared for van-drives 100%. decent 4 avon van tyres. yellow security steering wheel lock comes free. new pagid brake drums/shoes/cylinders/fixing kit 6 month ago. new alternator and v-belt 6 month ago. radio bit rubbish but gets stations. van stored at my unit in halesowen b63 as ive insured new car now. this all me being honest as poss. any road test ok. but if you hit buy it now you bought it, you wont be disapointed. ime at unit all week.
